Background

​

Operations Counselling Youth Centre Inc. (OCYC) is an international corporation headquartered in Ontario, Canada. We are a registered NGO with the Canada Revenue Agency,  as well as a registered company in Jamaica. OCYC was birthed to assist at-risk and disenfranchised youths in vulnerable communities to fulfill their greatest potential through mainly coaching and mentorship.

We recognize that the crime rate in Canada and Jamaica is on the increase and most of the people who are involved in these crimes are predominantly under the age of 25. From our research and investigation, we realize that people more often than not, Fall victim to criminal activities when they are not gainfully employed, or involved in volunteerism or sporting activities.

 

So as an independent non-profit organization, we have resolved to play our part in reducing crime in society, through the empowering of youths in Canada and Jamaica to become more productive. By utilizing social interaction activities such as sports, we are determined to instil and foster positive change in youngsters that will aid conflict resolution and boost self-esteem. We are steadfast in helping them to advance the economies from which they are a part through gainful employment and empower them to advocate for their rights as children, teens and young adults.

What are we doing?

 

At OCYC we are currently actively helping youngsters refrain from idle activities that could see them committing crimes of various nature. We do this by providing support through counselling, coaching, mentorship and training. Our belief is that once youths are placed on the right trajectory, and are equipped with the support and platforms needed, there is no limit to what they can achieve for themselves and their nation.

 

The youths of any country, cannot be ignored in the development and advancement of that country. Therefore, we are leveraging our experience in training and coaching to mobilize the youths in Canada and Jamaica to choose the career path fitting for them, while getting involved in a form of sporting activity.

The Future

 

Our vision is to run a standard skills acquisition office; a place where youths can acquire the requisite skills that will enable them to successfully launch their businesses. Paired with this, there will be a sports training facility where youths can register and get involved in varying supporting activities.

 

OCYC Inc. in collaboration with the governments of Canada and Jamaica, varying institutions, corporate companies, and other non-profit organizations, will achieve its objective of transforming one life at a time. We are therefore excited about the future and what the Lord has in store.
